UP-150 ultra-filtration membranes allow back-pulsing
without damage.
The basis of the MRI BIO-CEL® MBR is the patented
UP-150 membrane, constructed of Polyether Sulfone (PES).
Using a full-sheet bonding process, two robust UP-150 membranes
are pressure-fused to woven polyester permeate- core. This produces an exceptionally strong ultra-filtration membrane, which can be back-pulsed up to 2.2 PSI without breakage, tearing, or ballooning.
Fine-bubble air diffusers emit air-scouring bubbles significantly smaller than those in Hollow Fiber or other Flat-Sheet Membrane Bioreactors.
The fine bubbles:
- Evenly scour ultra-filtration membrane surfaces
- Ensure a high degree of oxygen transfer
- Reduce retention time
- Save on energy costs
- Do not clog when not in use
Patented Mechanical Cleaning Process maintains permeability and eliminates chemical costs.
Flexible Flat-Sheet Ultra-Filtration Membranes combine the advantages of Rigid Plate and Hollow Fiber Membranes.

The next generation in ultra-filtration membranes, Meurer MBR Bio-Cel® is permanently hydrophilic, robust, back-pulsable, and has high-packing-density properties. Available in the U.S. only from Meurer MBR.
